Dalaman is set between the sea and mountains and profits from its location being close to many areas of historical and geographical interest. Dalaman is swiftly becoming a destination of choice as opposed to a time when it used to a place to stop on the way to other resort towns in Turkey.
There have been large investments recently in the airport and the road links as well as continuous general development to improve the area and make it much more accessible. The area is protected however against over-development and exploitation due to the rare loggerhead turtles that regularly use the rivers and beaches. This protection should allow Dalaman to develop according to the surrounding environment and preserve its natural beauty.
As well as improved tourism within the area, Dalaman is becoming increasingly popular with European property investors. This is largely due to a bright outlook for the area with plans underway for a marina and a new golf course as well the area being designated a main tourist area from now on.
The town of Dalaman itself has a wide choice of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes and is benefiting from the recent and continuing investment in the region. There is a wonderful natural beach in Dalaman too that is not yet overly commercial and is home to a host of local wildlife.
If you are looking for a quieter pace of life in striking natural surroundings then Dalaman could be ideal for you, but it is also perfectly situated close to other main resort areas. There is also the construction of a tunnel underway that will connect Dalaman with Gocek that will reduce the drive to only 10 minutes.
When visiting Dalaman it is also well worth a trip to the Dalyan. Here you can enjoy the Kaunos archaeologist site and marvel at the carved tombs in the Limestone Mountain while cruising along the Dalyan River. Once you have reached the shore you can take a stroll along Iztuzu beach, the world’s 6th most famous beach, that stretches for over 6km and hopefully catch a glimpse of the sea turtles that frequent the beach. |
